FAIR MOVEMENT: COOPASV PROJECT NETWORK STARTED THIS WEEK

SCHOOL STUDENTS VISIT THE COOPASV HEADQUARTERS

In celebration of the International Fair Trade Day, celebrated on May 13, students from the Municipal Doralice Mendonça Reis and Padre José Ribeiro State schools visited the headquarters of COOPASV (Small Farmers Cooperative of Santana da Vargem).

Justo Movimento is a network of Coopasv projects, in partnership with the Municipal Government, Acaps, Grupo Pereira, BRFAIR and Clac. The objective of the movement is to win the seal of fair trade city for Santana da Vargem.

Fair Trade is a commercial model that places human beings and the social, economic and environmental sustainability of societies at the center; dignifying work, respecting the environment and promoting responsible and sustainable management.

Muqui (ES), Boa Esperança (MG) and Poço Fundo (MG) are recognized as Fair Trade cities in Brazil. Santana da Vargem has started its process now, and may join the other three cities in the future.

The projects developed by Justo Movimento range from good practices to circular economy. The first action was the “Itinerant School”, where the 5th year students got to know all of COOPASV’s facilities, being presented with its entire history in coffee and the principles of fair trade.
