International Day of Family Farming

These workers are responsible for putting 70% of the food consumed on the people’s table.

On July 25th we celebrate the International Day of Family Farming. In addition to providing subsistence resources to countless families in the country, family farming is essential because it places 70% of the food consumed (according to FAO – United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization), including coffee.

It is known for her agricultural variety, at small properties, and family work. In this way, food production shows how productivity, preservation of natural resources and income are connected.

Here at Coopasv, we make a point of recognizing our family farmers. In the last years, these workers had access to public policies that ensured their maintenance and expansion. For example, the “PRONAF” (National Program for Strengthening Family Farming) and the “PAA” (Family Farming Food Acquisition Program) were responsible for introducing important incentives to produce healthy food and the economic development of small Brazilian municipalities.

And, of course, we know that if food is not grown, people’s tables will be empty. Therefore, it is with all the affection that we congratulate all workers and thank them for their efforts.
